NCW-Rotogro
The "Wheel" revolves around two center-fixed, fan-cooled lights. It is in a constant motion 24 hours a day. The plants are secured in their "quick drain" trays while they revolve. Once a day, the top tray reservoir is filled with liquid nutrient until all the trays have passed through it.

A pump is placed in the bottom reservoir and when switched on, fills the top reservoir to desired depth. The "Quick drain Trays" are then revolved throught the nutrient/water mixture, feeding the plants. Once all plants have been fed, the pump is switched off, letting the nutrient/water mix drain back into the main reservoir.

The effect of gravity on the rotating plants is amazing!

Electricity consumption is calculated by multiplying the Wattage by Hours by Days by $. Eg: The 240 unit is powered by 2-600 watt HPS bulbs, so equals 1200 watts, or 1.2 Kw by 12 hourshrs = 14.4 kw per day, by 30days = 43.2 kw per month. Multiply that by the local electricity rate to obtain your monthly electricity charge.

NCW-Rotogro-Lettuce.jpg The Rotogro product is manufactured by Roto-gro, Inc.
  • Uses 1/3 of the space and power of traditional tables
  • No tables to build
  • No lights to wire
  • Assembly takes less than 1 hour, using a Phillips screwdriver and 7/16" and 9/16" wrench
  • It takes approximately one hour for the trays to make one revolution.
  • Two reservoirs are supplied, one top and bottom
  • The plants are grown in 4" Rockwool type cubes.
  • The Rotogro Garden is made from Polyethylene (plastic) and Poly Vinyl Chloride (PVC).
  • It is lightweight and easy and clean.
  • garden is on wheels and can easily be moved into any room or location at any time.
It is recommended that an air stone be placed in the main reservoir to oxygenate the nutrient/water mix. It is also recommended that an oscillating floor fan be placed in the direction of the plants to move air/C02 around. A pH meter to test the alkalinity of your nutrient/water and nutrient meter to test the TDS of the nutrient water mix. Then just add plants!

Grow Tips

  1. When using Rockwool or equivalent cubes, they must be pre-soaked before use. Fill reservoir with water and set pH level at 5. Place 4" cubes in reservoir and let soak for 24 hours.

  2. Place cuttings into pre soaked 4" cubes and load into trays.

  3. Drain and clean reservoir. Refill with fresh water, setting the pH level at 5.6 - 5.8. Add nutrients to a reading of 500 ppm. It is recommended that you add a bacteria/mold inhibitor to the nutrient mix.

  4. Add an air pump with air stones into the reservoir and plug into leg of machine. This is necessary to oxygenate the water.

  5. After plants have been inserted into cubes and placed into trays, it is important to have them root into the bigger cubes before feeding them. Keep the lamps on 24 hours a day until rooted. Check the cubes daily to make sure they are still moist. Do not let them dry out! If it is necessary to flood the cubes before rooting has taken place, keep the nutrient level low, e.g. 500 ppm.

  6. On the 4th day or if plants are drying out, flood top reservoir until the bottom (about 1") of the cube is covered. Adjust the overflow to that depth.

  7. After root development, increase nutrient mix to 1500 ppm and flood only when needed (making sure the cubes do not dry out) until noticeable plant growth, then daily floods are recommended.

  8. It is a good idea to position 1 or 2 fans in the direction of the grow area to help move CO2 around the plants.

  9. Flood every 2nd to 3rd day for approximately 1 week. (average veg time is 10 days). Switch timer to 12 hours.

  10. Adjust nutrients to 1000-1200 ppm and flood daily as lamps turn on. As plants increase in size, adjust nutrients to compensate. It is recommended to change reservoir water weekly.

  11. For optimum light, keep glass tube clean by spraying a glass cleaner onto a towel and wiping tube. This is best done when lamps are just turning on or off.
